Pablo Picasso "La Torada" - 1914
VENIS STUDIOS carried out the conservation and restoration treatment of an original Pablo Picasso artwork, “La Torada” (1914), executed in mixed media on wood.
The conservation and restoration project was undertaken by senior expert conservators and restorers Venizelos G. Gavrilakis and Vaia A. Karagianni, addressing significant structural and surface challenges affecting the artwork.
The wooden support had suffered structural deterioration, while the painted surface presented extensive contamination, insect activity, including insect remains and deposits, as well as evidence of previous inappropriate cleaning interventions that had affected areas of the original composition.
Following detailed examination and documentation, VENIS STUDIOS implemented a carefully designed conservation treatment, including structural stabilization of the wooden support, controlled surface cleaning, removal of damaging residues, and professional reintegration of visually disrupted areas.
The treatment was carried out following museum-grade conservation principles, with respect for the authenticity, original materials, and artistic integrity of Picasso’s work.
This project reflects VENIS STUDIOS’ approach to the preservation of significant artworks through scientific assessment, technical expertise, and ethical conservation practices, ensuring the long-term stability and appreciation of important cultural heritage for future generations.
